Life in the Education Team: A Journey of Learning and Innovation

At Arm, our Education and Academic Engagement team continues to benefit from the energy and creativity of talented interns. Each year, interns bring fresh perspectives and contribute significantly to our projects. For example, in 2023/24, one of our interns developed a visual inspector for exploring our Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Framework, a key tool in advancing our education initiatives.

This year, we’re fortunate to have two exceptional interns, Andrew and Taya, who are playing an integral role in supporting our AI, machine learning, and application software products. They’re also helping us transition legacy content from end-of-life platforms, ensuring our resources remain cutting-edge.

Interns at Arm are given the opportunity to engage in both technical projects and external collaborations, creating a dynamic and fulfilling experience. We’re always looking for bright individuals to join us, and if you know someone who could be the next great addition to our team, we encourage you to explore our open internship positions.

Here's a glimpse of what Andrew and Taya have experienced in their first few months with Arm:

Andrew: Exploring the Frontiers of Technology

University of Cambridge

"Arm’s pivotal role in on-device AI development and its rich history in Cambridge drew me to join the team. In just a few months, I’ve been able to work on a wide range of exciting projects, from developing a chatbot using Retrieval-Augmented Generation to creating mobile applications using AI. The chance to use Arm-specific tools like CMSIS and Keil Studio, alongside AI frameworks such as LangChain and PyTorch, has been invaluable for my technical growth."

Andrew also highlights the vibrant culture at Arm, which includes networking events and opportunities to give back through education initiatives like a micro:bit programming workshop for sixth form students. "This internship is more than just technical work—it's about continuous learning and collaboration with world-class engineers," Andrew shares.

Looking forward, Andrew is eager to take on more complex projects and continue building connections across different teams at Arm.

Taya: Growing Beyond My Comfort Zone

Anglia Ruskin University

"Since joining Arm, I’ve been part of projects that pushed me to grow, both technically and personally. My first challenge was migrating lab exercises to new environments, which required me to quickly adapt and master unfamiliar tools. Working on testing training materials for deploying Large Language Models on mobile devices was another standout experience—it allowed me to explore the exciting potential of AI in everyday technology."

Taya emphasizes how the dynamic, real-world challenges at Arm differ from academic learning. "Here, you have to be flexible and adapt quickly, which has helped me grow beyond my comfort zone," she explains. The collaborative culture, supported by team-building events like hackathons and treasure hunts, has been crucial to her integration into the company.

With a strong support system from her team, Taya is excited to continue her journey at Arm, developing her skills and exploring new opportunities in the months to come.
