Cultivating Talent in Arm Sweden: Marta's Journey in GPU Engineering

Tell us about how your career journey at Arm began

I come from Serbia and joined Arm in Sweden in 2015 as a graduate GPU modelling engineer. I started with no prior work experience and gradually advanced to become a staff engineer. While my role evolved over the years, I primarily focused on a specific skill set, becoming an expert in my area.

What growth opportunities did you experience throughout your career at Arm?

I was fortunate to find opportunities that aligned with my career vision. Arm provided me with tasks that allowed me to develop expertise in my chosen field. Additionally, I had the flexibility to explore different areas within the company, all driven by my interests and discussions with my line manager.

How would you describe the supportive environment at Arm for career development?

At Arm, there's no set path for what one should be doing. I've always felt supported when I wanted to make changes or improve aspects of my role. It's an open environment where discussions with line managers can lead to actions that benefit career growth.

Can you elaborate on how your responsibilities evolved from a graduate GPU engineer to your current role as a staff engineer?

When I started, my responsibilities were quite limited, focusing on a small GPU block. Over time, my role expanded, and I became an expert in my area, someone others could turn to for problem-solving. The team I joined also grew significantly, leading to more responsibilities.

How has being part of a larger team and your senior position impacted your role at Arm?

Being part of a larger team and holding a senior position has allowed me to support and train new colleagues, which is a fulfilling experience. Despite the growth, our team maintains a strong sense of connection and cohesion, and I never feel like I'm alone in a vast organization.

Could you describe the culture within your team at Arm and what it's like to work there?

The culture within my team is characterized by modesty and openness. There's no intense competition or constant need to prove oneself. Everyone is approachable and supportive, creating a pleasant and well-connected atmosphere.
