Do you want to learn how Video and Display hardware is designed and integrated into modern computing systems? Arm has an internship opportunity in our Media architecture team, combining computer architecture, hardware design and software development!
Arm’s Sophia Antipolis design centre is located at the heart of one of Europe’s largest technology parks, between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The site has contributed to many Arm technologies used in consumer and computing products worldwide.
Job Overview:
Modern Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) integrate sophisticated Video and Display hardware with many components, interfaces, clock domains and power domains. Describing these systems accurately and keeping architectural information consistent throughout the design process presents an interesting engineering challenge!
The goal of this internship is to explore tools and technologies for modelling and automating the design of Arm Media subsystems.
The project will investigate machine-readable descriptions of hardware architectures. These models can capture components, interfaces, connectivity, clock and power domains, allowing architectural information to be checked and reused across different stages of hardware development.
Whatyou could be doing as a Media Systems Architecture Intern:
- Work alongside experienced architects, the internship will provide exposure to the architecture and integration of Media hardware within an SoC.
- Develop machine-readable models of hardware subsystems using Python and system modelling tools.
- Explore how these models can automate engineering tasks, check architectural consistency and improve the flow of information between architecture and hardware implementation teams.
- Hands-on prototyping and evaluation using representative Media subsystem designs.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Are currently enrolled and studying towards a Master Degree in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering. Candidates with alternative degrees will also be considered if they have relevant experience.
- Possess programming experience, preferably using Python,
- Have a good understanding of computer architecture or digital hardware fundamentals.
- Demonstrate an interest in system architecture, hardware modelling and design automation.
Qualities that will help your application stand out:
- Knowledge of System-on-Chip architecture, hardware interfaces or hardware description languages such as SystemVerilog or Verilog would be beneficial.
- Experience with Python development, clock and power management, or graphics, video and display systems.
Additional Information:
We encourage early applications as we review them on a first come/first served basis.
Arm Internships require you to be enrolled in a higher education degree.
The internship duration is 6 months, starting in 2027.
French Law requires students to complete an internship agreement (Convention de Stage). This is a tripartite agreement signed by the student, their home university and host organization, that facilitates an internship in France. It is the contract defining all the essential points of the internship: duration, missions, remuneration and benefits, insurance in the event of an accident, etc.
It is preferable that Arm's own template of the agreement is used. Successful applicants will be required to provide contact details of the appropriate university representatives in order to have the agreement signed.
Please note we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants must have the right to work in the country where the internship is based, without relying on sponsorship by Arm, for the full duration of the internship
In Return:
Working on interesting new projects with leaders in the field is exciting, but we also know how important it is to receive support. That's why throughout your internship, you can expect regular feedback and development opportunities, social activities to connect with your peers, an end of internship celebration, plus the opportunity to be *considered for future Graduate positions (*subject to performance). #getreadytogrow
