Job Overview:
We invite a motivated graduate engineer to join Arm’s GPU software support team. In the position of GPU Software Applications Engineer Graduate, you will partner with knowledgeable engineers to analyze technical problems, develop remedies, and boost GPU performance. You will acquire hands-on experience with Arm GPU technology while advancing your technical skills.
What you might be doing as a GPU Software Applications Engineer Graduate?
- Investigate and solve GPU driver issues in customer systems, working alongside experienced engineers to uncover root causes and formulate solutions.
- Build and complete low-level driver tests to simulate software and hardware error conditions and validate fixes.
- Analyse GPU performance across different hardware and software configurations to find opportunities for optimization.
- Collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support customer requirements.
- Develop expertise in Arm GPU architecture, driver technology, and debugging techniques through hands-on projects, technical training, and collaboration.
We are seeking individuals who:
Hold (or are on track to hold) a University degree or equivalent experience by the programme start date. This can be Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering. Candidates with alternative degrees will also be considered if they have relevant experience.
- Foundational knowledge of modern GPU architecture and the graphics rendering pipeline, including how graphics software interacts with GPU hardware.
- Familiarity with at least one graphics API, such as Vulkan, OpenGL ES or DirectX, and the ability to consult its specification to understand encouraged behaviour.
- Strong foundations in software development, coding and debugging using C and/or C++, proven through academic work, personal projects, internships or other relevant experience.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, both in writing and verbally, including good written and spoken English.
- A genuine interest in engaging with customers, openness to learning, and the capability to work well within a group.
Qualities that will help your application stand out:

- Good understanding of game engine architecture and rendering pipelines, including how engines interact with graphics APIs.
- Knowledge of heterogeneous computing, ideally including GPGPU and OpenCL.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to form hypotheses, build experiments and use evidence to investigate technical problems.
- Experience developing or integrating machine learning techniques for graphics, such as neural rendering, image reconstruction or ML-based upscaling.
- One to two years of relevant experience in GPU software, graphics, embedded software or related engineering work, not necessarily in a customer-facing role. Recent or soon-to-be graduates without commercial experience are also encouraged to apply.
