Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a passion for compilers, managed runtimes, and open-source software to join our team working on the Rust compiler. You will be part of the larger CE-SW Runtimes team, focused on enhancing modern language support across the Arm architecture—from JavaScript to Rust. This role involves close collaboration with colleagues across Arm and with open-source communities, tackling challenges that enable the future of computing.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and implement improvements to the Rust compiler to better support Arm architectural features and CPU designs.
- Develop new compiler features and optimize existing ones, including optimization passes and intrinsics.
- Take ownership of medium to large technical areas within compiler development, ensuring quality and maintainability.
- Contribute actively to open-source projects and engage with the wider open-source community.
- Collaborate across Arm teams to enhance support for the Arm Architecture and CPUs.
- Develop and maintain automated functionality and performance testing frameworks for compiler development.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Experience working on managed runtimes or compilers.
- Strong programming skills in Rust, C, and C++.
- Flexibility and a broad range of software development skills, with a commitment to continuous learning.
- Familiarity with open-source project development and contribution processes.
- Knowledge of computer architecture; arm64 experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in software development methodologies, including coding, testing, debugging, and code review.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- Proficiency in Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience with Linux performance analysis tools and system-level performance tuning.
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
