Looking for your next career challenge? We seek an expert Board Power / Power Distribution Engineer to join Arm’s Packaging, Boards and Multiphysics team. We are involved with systems that incorporate Arm processors, focusing on platform power design and distribution for System-on-Chip (SoC). We are working at the forefront of embedded compute focusing on developing hardware platform prototypes to validate and demonstrate Arm's latest IP products.

Responsibilities:

You will shape the power architecture for high-performance compute platforms, designing and optimizing efficient DC-DC solutions including multi-phase converters, VRMs and PMICs. From power conversion through to the SoC, you will develop and analyze the board-level power delivery network (PDN), including power planes and decoupling, to deliver robust power under demanding operating conditions.

Working with SoC architects, power integrity engineers and other engineering teams, you will:

• Define board power architectures and power trees, selecting VR components to meet efficiency, transient response, voltage ripple and other system requirements.
• Perform simulation and analysis of board PDNs with tools including SIMPLIS, SPICE, PowerDC, and Ansys SIWave.
• Develop schematics and review PCB layouts to ensure robust power delivery and power integrity.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams—including architects, thermal, layout, and SI/PI specialists—on layout optimization, PDN and telemetry requirements
• Validate and debug power solutions in the lab using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, load slammers and other test equipment.
• Assist with customer design-in of VR/PMIC solutions for reference designs, ensuring feature alignment and cost optimized solutions
• Work with engineering teams and suppliers on platform floor-planning, telemetry, thermal, EMI/EMC and cost requirements.
• Document Power tree, test reports, design spec, simulation results and standard methodologies for power solution
• Contribute to datasheets, application notes and design guides
• Stay updated on industry trends in energy efficient power electronics

We work across multiple locations, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with engineers developing SoCs, packages and hardware platforms.

Required Skills and Experience :

• 8+ years of experience in Power distribution and design
• Proficiency in DC-DC converter topologies (buck, boost, multiphase), PWM controllers, MOSFET, and power stages. Knowledge of telemetry interfaces (PMBus, SMBus, AVBus)
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Simplis, SPICE, PowerDC, Ansys SIWave).
• Strong knowledge of PCB layout considerations for power circuits (e.g., parasitic reduction).
• PDN and PI analysis capability. Familiarity with dynamic load testing/slamming techniques
• Familiarity with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power integrity test setups
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques in power designs
• Familiarity with thermal management solutions for high-power-density systems
• Problem-solving attitude, teamwork

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

Experience with MCU or FPGA-based prototyping would be useful. Scripting or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW or similar tools would also be valuable.
