This role sits within Arm’s System Solutions software organization, working on software for Arm Neoverse–based platforms,from early bring-up and validation on pre-silicon platforms through to production-quality firmware on real silicon, while providing technical and people leadership in a focus group responsible for platform bring-up, boot flows, system configuration, and architecture feature enablement.
Job purpose and accountabilities
We are seeking an experiencedStaff Software Engineerwithpeople management capabilitiesto lead the design, development, and optimization of low-level software and firmware components. The ideal candidate will play a key role in system architecture, performance tuning, and silicon bring-up for next-generation platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and validate firmware across Pre-Silicon platforms (virtual platforms, FPGA, and emulators) to bringup in silicon.
- Collaborate with hardware, validation, and system teams to ensure seamless integration
- Optimize system performance includinglatency, bandwidth, and power efficiency
- Debug complex system-level issues acrosshardware-software boundaries
- Line Manage 3-5 Engineers including goal setting and performance evaluation
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across teams in their domain
Skills and experience:
Required
- Solid industry experience building complex system software, combined with demonstrated leadership or mentoring and a strong track record of delivery.
- Background in firmware development on pre-silicon and silicon platforms (preferably on Arm-based systems), demonstrated through ownership, review, and guidance of complex technical designs.
- Sound technical judgement, including assessing trade-offs, managing technical risk, and sustaining long-term software quality.
- System software experience with Infra-scale platforms and one or more of associated features like RAS, Virtualization, Power Management, BMC, Telemetry, Debug, Diagnostics, etc.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of effective collaboration across teams and sites.
Nice to have
- Experience working on server or infrastructure platforms, including customer- or production-facing environments.
- Understanding of system architecture (preferably Arm), OS fundamentals, bootloaders, and device drivers.
- Experience working with open-source software or upstream communities like Linux, edk2, TF-A, TF-M, etc.
- Understanding of software development standard processes, including testing strategies, CI, and release considerations.
- Experience working in globally distributed teams.
