We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer with 6+ years of experience to drive the enhancement and optimization of tools and workflows for the Standard Cell Design team, specifically in the areas of layout creation, schematic development, and physical verification in advanced technology nodes. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, leadership abilities, and the drive to ensure continuous tool integration, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead collaboration with design teams to understand complex project requirements, ensuring efficient, high-quality deliverables within tight deadlines.
- Provide comprehensive end-to-end support for design tool flows, managing integration, troubleshooting, and issue resolution across all stages.
- Drive and lead productivity improvements by automating and optimizing workflows using advanced scripting languages such as PERL, SKILL, TCL, and Python.
- Take ownership of coordinating with onsite teams, offering advanced troubleshooting expertise and resolving tool or flow-related challenges.
- Write clear, detailed requirements for any changes or improvements needed in the tools, while collaborating with tool developers to prioritize and deliver enhancements.
- Validate and rigorously test updates to design tools and flows for stability, efficiency, and effectiveness, ensuring they meet the high standards of advanced technology nodes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the design team, keeping them informed of the latest updates, tool enhancements, and improvements to workflows and toolsets.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices for tool usage, flow optimization, and scripting techniques.

- Industry Tools: Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre tools (Calibredrv)
- Languages: TCL, Cadence SKILL, PERL, Python (advanced scripting techniques)
This role requires a deep technical understanding, leadership experience, and the ability to influence tool development to drive continuous improvements and support a high-performance design team.
