As a part of Arm's Solutions Engineering group we like to think we are not just crafting sophisticated SoCs, but we are defining future chip design techniques. Not only do we improve the power, performance and system integration of our products, but we also craft the design flows, influence Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and build the knowledge base that makes custom SoC and CPU chip design possible. At Arm, our work goes beyond multiple divisions where we drive improved implementation for Arm and our partners. A key component of this is the development of comprehensive implementation and analysis methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute block or top-level physical implementation from synthesis to signoff.
- Drive floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, and optimization for timing, power, and area.
- Perform timing analysis, IR drop analysis, and congestion optimization to achieve signoff quality.
- Develop and maintain physical design constraint files (SDC, Tcl, LEF/DEF).
- Collaborate with RTL, STA, power, and verification teams for seamless SoC integration.
- Support ECO implementation and late-stage design convergence.
- Contribute to flow automation and methodology development to enhance PPA and turnaround time.
- Interface with foundries and CAD tool vendors for PD flow improvements and issue resolution.
- Analyze and debug timing, DRC/LVS, EM/IR, and signal integrity issues.
- Participate in design reviews and support tape-out activities.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in SoC Physical Design or Block-level PnR.
- Strong expertise in Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2, or Fusion Compiler flows.
- Excellent understanding of:
- Physical design stages (synthesis → signoff)
- Floorplanning, placement, and routing techniques
- Clock tree synthesis (CTS) and skew optimization
- Power grid design and IR-drop mitigation
- Timing closure and ECO methodologies
- Solid knowledge of STA, DRC, LVS, and physical verification flows.
- Experience with advanced technology nodes (7nm, 5nm, 3nm).
- Strong scripting skills in Tcl, Python, or Perl for flow automation.
- Familiarity with LEF/DEF, UPF, Liberty, and GDSII formats.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in low-power and multi-voltage domain SoC design.
- Exposure to Arm IP integration (CPU, GPU, NPU, interconnect, etc.).
- Understanding of EM/IR signoff, thermal analysis, and signal integrity.
- Knowledge of ECO automation, timing closure scripts, and tool debugging.
- Prior involvement in full-chip tape-out and signoff validation.
In Return:
Engineer will be part of a team owning synth to GDS closure of a critical subsystem in high-end compute SOC ,
Engineer would be Planning of PG grid , IR drop assessment/closure , bump-planning and RDL closure for this sub-system .

Hybrid Working at Arm
Arm’s approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.
Equal Opportunities at Arm
