Arm is looking for a leader with solid technical skills with industry and/or rich academic experience in areas of robotics and embodied intelligence. The preferred candidate should possess knowledge of the emerging embodied AI sector and be able to articulate how we must evolve the Arm architecture to support it efficiently, securely, and with high performance. Arm’s unique position within the microelectronics ecosystem and growing focus on AI and robotics will provide you with technical challenges as we build the future together.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead a research team developing and applying embodied AI to explore how we might evolve the Arm architecture to support these use cases.
- Understand current trends within embodied AI and ability to project what opportunities and gaps those will manifest in the future.
- Analyze and optimize robotics foundation models, vision-language-action (VLA) models, and vision language models (VLMs) for robotics and embodied intelligence.
- Supervise the integration and application of Agentic AI within robotic systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This includes characterizing AI behavior, solving issues, and implementing updates to enhance system capabilities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years’ industry experience in robotics foundation models, vision-language-action (VLA) models, and vision language models (VLMs).
- Strong research experience with embodied intelligence (reinforcement learning, imitation learning, task planning, perception, simulation platforms such as Gazebo and Isaac Sim).
- Familiarity with the PyTorch, TensorFlow, C, C++, Java, ROS, and CUDA.
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills to effectively represent the derived results and technical concepts developed in the course of the work.
"Nice to Have" Skills and Experience:
- PhD degree in EECS/Robotics or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Familiarity with the Arm architecture and systems
- Good background in both systems software and systems architecture to allow for mapping of high level requirements of embodied AI across the stack and into the hardware
In Return
This is an opportunity to build the future of the most ubiquitous architecture on the planet! You and the team that you build will have a 5-10 year research horizon to establish the future for embodied AI products across the ecosystem.
Salary Range:

Hybrid Working at Arm
Arm’s approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.
