Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative JTAG Architect to lead the design, development, and integration of JTAG-based access and control infrastructures for complex SoC and system designs! The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IEEE 1149.1 (Standard Test Access Port and Boundary-Scan Architecture) and/or IEEE 1687 (IJTAG), with a strong background in hardware testability and scan-based access methods.
In this role, you will be responsible for building a scalable JTAG architecture that integrates cleanly into RTL and verification environments, accelerates design bring-up, and enables powerful post-silicon debug capabilities across platforms. You will work multi-functionally with architects, DV teams, validation, and debug tool engineers to ensure early adoption, reusability, and maintainability of JTAG and debug infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement a reusable JTAG infrastructure for SoC designs with integration in RTL and Verification flows compliant to IEEE standards.
- Collaborate with SoC architects, Debug engineers, validation, and debug tools teams to implement effective JTAG network insertion, access and control strategies.
- Define and maintain IJTAG networks and instrument access protocols.
- Drive automation for instrument insertion, scan chain integration, and test vector generation.
- Support bring-up, validation, and debug using JTAG tools and interfaces.
- Write documentation, drive training, and support to internal teams on JTAG implementations.
- Commitment to improvement by evaluating and recommending tools, methodologies, and best strategies related to IEEE JTAG standards.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Proven experience (15+ years) in SoC architecture/design and (5+ years) in SOC debug architecture design, implementation and deploying debug techniques for digital and mixed-signal functionality in a post-Si production environment.
- Familiarity with JTAG tools such as XJTAG, ASSET InterTech, or similar platforms.
- Expertise with Design for Debug (DFD) techniques such as observability points, trace buffers, and error detection mechanisms
- Experience with scripting languages (TCL, Python, Perl) and automation of DFT flows.
- Strong background in digital design, RTL coding (Verilog/VHDL), and ASIC/FPGA debug methodologies
- Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly across technical domains.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- Knowledge of ARM CoreSight, DAPs, ETMs, STMs, and ADIv5 architecture.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multi-functional teams
In Return:
To join a newly forming Solution Engineering SoC architecture team with significant opportunities to impact the shape, definition, and culture of the team and help build our future success! This will be a fast paced and exciting environment with opportunities to demonstrate your strategic and innovative thinking while directly chipping in to current projects.
- Partner and customer focus
- Collaboration and communication
- Creativity and innovation
- Team and personal development
