Job Overview:
We are looking for a Principal Product Manager with deep software and systems understanding to shape performance analysis tools for robotics and automotive developers. Join Arm’s Physical AI business unit in this highly technical role! We help engineering teams understand workload behaviour, investigate bottlenecks and make informed optimisation decisions.
We explore developer workflows and system behaviour to decide what our tools should do next. We need someone who can discuss architecture, software interfaces and implementation choices with engineers, test assumptions and turn technical findings into product decisions.
This Principal individual-contributor role guides product direction across engineering teams. We value technical depth, sound judgement and shared ownership of outcomes. A development background is ideal. Experience in robotics, automotive or performance tooling is highly desirable, but not required.
Would you like to help developers understand how their software runs and where it can improve? We welcome new perspectives and ideas!
Responsibilities:
- Work with engineers and customers to understand workloads, system constraints and the questions developers need performance analysis tools to answer
- Explore product capabilities through technical evaluations, demonstrations and experiments with engineering teams
- Translate developer problems into clear requirements, representative use cases and measurable acceptance criteria
- Review technical proposals with architects and developers, evaluating usability, integration effort and engineering feasibility
- Own product strategy and roadmap priorities, balancing technical evidence, customer value, development effort and business goals
- Guide products from early definition through release and adoption, using developer feedback and usage measures to improve subsequent releases
- Use market and competitive insights to identify opportunities, support investment decisions and explain product differentiation
- Align engineering, sales, marketing and partners on product plans, technical positioning and launch readiness
Required Skills and Experience:
- We look for deep understanding of software systems, including how applications interact with operating systems, processors and memory. We need someone who can evaluate implementation choices, investigate technical questions with engineers and assess the evidence.
- Experience delivering complex technical products and helping customers adopt them, with ownership of priorities and outcomes. We welcome backgrounds in technical product management, engineering leadership or related roles.
- Ability to turn competing requirements into a clear technical direction, define success measures and explain decisions to engineers and senior leaders.
- We value practical understanding of developer workflows, software interfaces and integration, and the ability to assess how tools support everyday engineering work.
- Experience influencing decisions across teams without direct reporting authority, resolving trade-offs and building agreement on delivery priorities.
- We need clear analysis and communication that connect technical capabilities with customer value and business outcomes.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
- Software development experience, including writing, debugging or reviewing code.
- Experience in robotics, automotive, embedded software, real-time systems or autonomous systems.
- Experience developing, using or managing profilers, tracing systems, benchmarks or other performance analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Arm-based systems, heterogeneous computing, memory behaviour or the relationship between latency, throughput, power and resource use.
- Experience with developer tools, SDKs, APIs, command-line interfaces or integrations with development environments.
- Experience using AI-assisted development or analysis tools to support technical investigations and developer workflows.
In Return:
We offer the opportunity to shape tools that help robotics and automotive developers make better engineering decisions. We bring software, systems and product expertise together, learning from one another as we turn developer feedback into useful improvements.
