Overview

Arm provides the fundamental computing architecture for billions of devices, from the smallest microcontrollers to smartphones and laptops to servers. Millions of developers around the world build software applications that run on Arm through platforms like Android, Windows and Linux, but also machine learning frameworks and games engines.**We will only consider candidates who submit a cover letter and portfolio that includes case studies of your UX research projects.

Your mission

As a user experience researcher focused on developer experience at Arm, your mission will be to provide foundational research on the motivations, needs and behaviors of application developers. You will summarize the gaps and opportunities for Arm to create or improve development tools, software libraries and technical content. Your natural curiosity and adaptability will be required to research a variety of developer platforms and different points in the software stack.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct user research studies, including usability testing, user interviews, surveys, and ethnographic studies, both remotely and in-person.
  • Work closely with designers, product managers, and developers to identify research objectives and prioritize research efforts.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to uncover user needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Create user personas, journey maps, and user flows to effectively communicate research findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate in the design of prototypes and wireframes based on research insights to ensure a user-centred approach to product development.
  • Contribute to the development of user experience strategies and design recommendations, advocating for the best interests of our users.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, proven methodologies, and new technologies related to UX research and design.

Required skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as a UX Researcher or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of research methodologies and their impact on product design.
  • Proficiency in conducting user interviews, usability testing, and other research methods, both in-person and remotely.
  • Solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods, and the ability to triangulate insights from multiple data sources.
  • Excellent analytical skills: you can distil complex data into actionable insights and design recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively present to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative approach: you enjoy working in cross-functional teams!
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering Design, Cognitive Psychology, UX Design, or a related field. Alternatively, you have demonstrable equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with design thinking principles and their application in the context of user-centred product design.
