Job Overview:
We are seeking an expert and motivated EDA and Third-Party IP Sourcing Sr. Director to join our team, focusing on sourcing and coordinating with senior and operational colleagues inEngineering, Supply Chainand Enterprise ITfor AI projects. Reporting to the VP Procurement and Transformation, this role is pivotal in identifying, evaluating, and acquiringtools and IP assets that will drive innovation and enhance our technology stack. Candidates will possessdeep industry knowledge and benchmarks, expert negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of both AI and HPC supplier landscapes, while also demonstratingthe ability to coordinate and find opportunities to collaborate across the supply base.
Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Acquisition: Identify and evaluate potential tools and assets that align with our AI product development needs. Conduct detailed due diligence to assess the technical and commercial viability of assets and tools in coordination with our Solutions and Central Engineering teams.
- Vendor and Partner Management: Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, technology partners, and research institutions. Negotiate licensing agreements and contracts to secure favorable terms while maximizing our combined EDA and IP purchasing power where applicable.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about trends and advancements in the latest technologies. Analyze competitor strategies and market dynamics to identify emerging opportunities and threats.
- Technical Evaluation: Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to understand technical requirements and validate the relevance and integration of supplier offerings into our systems and products. The candidate will bring the requisite technical knowledge and experience to communicate and collaborate effectively with the Engineering teams in foreseeing and translating needs into action.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all sourcing activities align with intellectual property laws, regulations, and company policies (contract risk, ESG risks, financial risk, etc.).
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience in EDA and IP Sourcing Management: Proven track record in sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating relevant suppliers specifically within AI and HPC sectors. A firm understanding of the overall silicon design flow and supply chain will enable the team to bring sourcing solutions that fit and/or enhance both our upstream and downstream process and policies.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of AI and HPC technologies, including current trends, challenges, and innovations.
- Negotiation Skills: Demonstratednegotiation and communication skills on $1-$100M+ contracts and ability to resolve challenges effectively.
- Speed Focus: The ideal candidate will be able to move at a significant pace and need to balance speed vs. “perfection”.
- Analytical Abilities: Ability to conduct thorough market research and technical evaluations, including financial assessments and risk analyses.
- Legal and Compliance Foresight: Knowledge of IP laws, licensing agreements, and compliance requirements.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple sourcing activities and deadlines efficiently.
- Networking: Established network of relationships within the supplier communities (e.g. Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens, niche suppliers, etc.), including technology providers, research institutions, and industry authorities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, legal, and business development, to drive EDA and IP-related projects.
- Broad Procurement Experience: Experience working in related direct and indirect spend categories (data center equipment and services, software, etc.) is preferred.
Salary Range:
