Job Overview:
The IP Management, Technical Program Manager (Project Side) provides hands-on execution leadership for IP coordination across projects. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate IP usage and status records, driving day-to-day execution, and ensuring timely communication of IP-related risks and changes.
The IP Management TPM operates across the full IP lifecycle—from IP requirements definition and procurement through integration, change management, and tapeout readiness—and serves as the primary bridge between SoC TPMs, die-level TPMs, functional TPMs, internal IP teams, and third-party IP vendors. With strong technical judgment and foresight, the role interprets IP development challenges, anticipates downstream impacts, and drives alignment across organizations to ensure IP readiness aligns with project achievements and commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve the IP execution system of record across SE projects, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Provide portfolio-level transparency into IP usage, versions, readiness, and risk across multiple programs.
- Anticipate cross-project risks by synthesizing IP team status, technical challenges, and dependency interactions.
- Apply deep technical and program judgment to assess downstream impact of IP development issues on schedules, and integration plans.
- Proactively engage IP organizations and vendors to influence delivery strategies, quality expectations, and risk mitigation approaches.
- Drive alignment between IP roadmaps and project execution plans, identifying gaps and proposing solutions.
- Lead sophisticated, ambiguous situations involving competing priorities, unclear ownership, or shifting constraints.
- Build and standardize IP tracking, reporting, and governance mechanisms across the organization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Project TPMs and leadership, providing insight, trade-off analysis, and recommendations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
- 8+ years of experience leading complex technical programs across hardware, SoC, or IP-centric environments.
- Proven ability to operate at portfolio scale, managing multiple programs and partners simultaneously.
- Strong technical competence enabling rapid assessment of engineering risks and execution trade-offs.
- Demonstrated success influencing at senior and executive levels.
- Track record of driving execution improvements and interpersonal impact.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
- Experience supporting SoC, platform, or system-level programs with significant IP reuse and dependency management.
- Hands-on technical background in architecture, design, verification, or validation.
- Familiarity with IP release processes, version control, and integration readiness criteria.
- Experience defining or operating execution systems of record (SSOTs).
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid execution methodologies and modern program management tools.
