Job Overview:
The Failure Analysis Engineer within Arm’s Silicon Quality Group acts as the internal voice of the customer for silicon quality. Responsibilities include conducting in-depth physical failure analyses to resolve root causes of yield issues, failures due to aging and environmental stress, and customer returns. As a key customer-facing contact, the engineer collaborates with multi-functional teams to resolve quality and RMA issues, ensuring a best-in-class customer experience and driving partner satisfaction. The role supports product quality across the entire lifecycle—from wafer development to mass production. Join us and be part of shaping the future of silicon quality!
Responsibilities:
- Partner with customers, FAEs, and internal teams to debug silicon quality and RMA issues across EVT, DVT, PVT, and in-field use.
- Coordinate cross-functional debug activities, identify critical path items, and drive timely resolution.
- Deliver 8D/RCCA reports to ensure closure of field quality cases.
- Lead the failure analysis work by using advanced physical analysis techniques (X-ray, SAT, OBIRCH, FIB, SEM, etc.).
- Perform data analysis, reliability reviews, and monitor quality metrics (e.g., DPPM, RCCA cycle times).
- Provide clear user documentation and communicate findings to internal teams and external partners
Required Skills and Experience :
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- 10+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Proven experience in physical failure analysis and customer-facing issue resolution.
- Expertise in yield, reliability, and failure triage/analysis.
- Solid background in foundry processes with hands-on yield analysis experience.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques and tools for PFA (FIB, SEM, TEM, X-ray, SAT, etc.).
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- Familiarity with foundry process flow and experience in SoC yield ramp-up handling.
- Familiarity with industry standards (JEDEC, AEC-Q, ISO).
- Ability to drive continuous improvement, lab optimization, and automation.
