Job Overview:

As a Principal Field Quality Engineer within the Silicon Quality Group at ARM, you will have the opportunity to be the internal voice of our customer for silicon quality! You will be the key customer facing contact so that ARM is able to deliver a best-in-class customer quality experience. You will work multi-functionally with internal teams to debug quality/RMA issues helping ensure customer partner satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with customer and ARM FAEs, partner engagement engineering and silicon solutions engineering teams to debug silicon quality / RMA issues during customer EVT, DVT and PVT at their ODM manufacturing facility or customer field.
  • Available on-site upon customer alert to review fail data and triage to see which are ARM design related.
  • Co-ordinate debug activities with multi-functional team, identify critical path items and rally the teams to reduce/eliminate impact.
  • Work with ARM's fault isolation and failure analysis team for Vmin / Fmax and reliability issues upon customer request.
  • Track field sensor data to enable learning about customer usage and feedback loop for improving quality.
  • Generate 8D/RCCA reports to close out field quality case.

Required Skills and Experience :

  • 10 years or more experience in quality or related roles at system level.
  • Proven track record on working with customers on field return debugs at system level.
  • Shown experience in yield, reliability, and failure triage / analysis at system level.
  • Broad understanding of foundry / package process, reliability, DFT/test concepts, such as test strategy, SCAN, BIST, non-structural test (PHY, IO, analog), ATE, SLT etc.
  • Excellent understanding of the processes and metrics used to supervise quality such as DPPM and RCCA cycle times.
  • Basic triage experience such as xray, rework/reball.
  • Fault isolation expertise (DFD, thermal, EMMI, OBIRCH, LADA/LVP/DLS)
  • Electrical FA experience (CT/TDR, shmoos, bench) and p hysical FA experience (delayer/FIB, nanoprobe, SEM/EDS/XPS/FTIR).

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

  • Strong understanding of steps to realize SoC development including architecture, RTL design and verification, DFD/DFT methodologies, physical implementation and packaging.
  • Field data analytics experience and how to correlate failures to test parametrics and find outlier signatures.
  • Effectively working with engineering teams on problem solving, and with partners when needed to make timely decisions on scope and resource.
