Are you passionate about both writing and ground-breaking technology? Arm's technology drives 95% of the world’s connected devices, across a variety of industries - from healthcare to smart homes. Our software tools help optimise application performance, and accelerate innovation for every device.

To support our users effectively, we need a writer who’s comfortable working at the heart of software development. Our focus is on tools that compile, debug, model, and optimise software — and we create content that helps users understand and use them with confidence.

That means more than writing guides: it means building strong relationships with Arm’s product and support teams, asking the right questions, and getting hands-on with the tools ourselves. We test, experiment, and dig deep — so we can create content that’s accurate, practical, and genuinely helpful.

Technical Communications at Arm

You will be part of a larger collaborative community who can guide and advise; often you'll work together crafting and delivering content for a large project.

As part of the wider Sales and Partner Enablement Group, our Technical Communications team produces the technical content for Arm's products. This content can include user documentation, UI improvements, knowledge-base articles, tutorials, and multimedia. Technical Communications has a strong presence in all of Arm's global design centres. We come from a diverse set of backgrounds and range from graduates to highly-experienced writers. As a community, we guide, encourage, and share knowledge with each other.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll take the lead on developing engaging information for sophisticated software products — not just writing, but crafting how we connect with our users. Collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to understand the technical landscape and identify where clear, purposeful content can make the biggest impact.
  • You’ll use your judgement to improve content strategy, close information gaps, and ensure everything we produce meets the needs of a global audience. We’ll look to you to bring fresh ideas around tooling, automation, and AI — not for novelty’s sake, but to improve what we deliver. If there’s a smarter way to get something done, we want you to find it.
  • This role offers the autonomy and trust that expert writers value. We’re looking for someone who knows what good looks like, isn’t afraid to challenge assumptions, and brings practical insight to how we work.

Your background

You probably have a good degree or post-grad qualification in a relevant field — maybe computer science, physics, maths, software engineering, English, or linguistics. But that’s not a hard requirement.

If your background is in Technical Communications or Information Development, and you’ve built up strong experience in the field, we’re just as interested. If you’ve worked on documentation for complex UIs, or command-line tools, have a curiosity about embedded systems, or bring any adjacent technical skills, even better!

What matters most to us is your ability to learn quickly, grow in the role, and use what you learn to support your colleagues and improve the quality of the work we do together.

Required skills and experience

You have extensive experience as a technical writer for software products, creating high-quality content for global audiences. You’re comfortable working in agile environments and partnering with Engineering and UX teams, contributing not just to the documentation, but to the development of intuitive UI and product design.

Your approach is flexible and pragmatic, with a creative and insightful approach. You’re known for being methodical, inquisitive, and a friendly standout colleague. You’re hands-on with the products — not afraid to explore, test, and even break things to understand how they work, and you’re proactive in feeding insights back to improve the product.

You work efficiently with a wide range of content and collaboration tools — from Markdown and rST to Git, Gerrit, Confluence, and Jira — and are quick to adapt when new systems are introduced.

Hybrid Working at Arm

Arm’s approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.
