Job Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Staff AI Solutions specialist to join our Commercial Systems in Cambridge.
The team finds opportunities to simplify and automate the commercial processes used across Sales, Licensing, Legal and Commercial Operations. Your role will be to turn those ideas into practical solutions.
You will design and build solutions directly where appropriate, from AI-enabled workflows and agents to lightweight applications and integrations. For more complex solutions, you will work with Enterprise IT, Data, and multiple technology teams to define the approach, develop prototypes and support delivery into production.
This role sits at the intersection of applied AI, software engineering, data and business process improvement. At the heart of the role is a focus on getting useful solutions into the hands of users and delivering measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Turn process-improvement and automation opportunities into practical technical solutions, from initial idea through to implementation.
- Compose and develop AI-enabled workflows, agents, automations, integrations and lightweight applications.
- Develop prototypes quickly, test them with users and progress successful solutions towards secure, reliable and supportable operational use.
- Work with business partners to understand processes, requirements and expected outcomes, and resolve whether AI, automation, integration or a system change is the right approach.
- Partner with technical groups focused on Enterprise IT, Data, Security, and other domains where specialist architecture, integration, or production support is needed.
- Test, document and support solutions, building reusable components and sharing knowledge across the team.
Skills and Experience
- Hands-on experience building and delivering software, automation or AI-enabled business solutions.
- Strong programming experience using Python for AI, automation, data processing or back-end development.
- Experience connecting applications and workflows to APIs, enterprise systems and business data.
- Knowledge of SQL, relational databases and modern data-pipeline approaches.
- Understanding of modern AI capabilities, including language models, agent-based workflows, retrieval and tool use.
- Experience applying good software-engineering practices (CI/CD), including version control, testing, deployment, monitoring and maintainable design.
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to take a business need from conception to delivery. Collaborate effectively with Enterprise IT and other technical teams.
A degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence or a related field, or equivalent experience, would be effective, although practical experience is equally valuable.
“Nice to Have”
- Azure, Databricks, Apache Spark or comparable cloud and data platforms.
- Data pipelines, ETL and workflow-orchestration technologies.
- Machine-learning methods such as forecasting, prediction or classification.
- Experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow or Celonis.
- Experience developing scalable, user-friendly applications using TypeScript or JavaScript, React and modern front-end technologies such as CSS or Tailwind.
