Job Overview:
EUC Linux Platform Engineer will be responsible for global support and management of Linux based OS (Ubuntu) on Desktop, Laptop or Workstation and related services. You will work closely with our Apple and Windows teams to create and establish the technical roadmap for the adoption of Ubuntu Linux OS in End User Computing at Arm.
As the Arm Subject Matter Expert for EUC Linux technologies, you will translate Arm's business, user experience, and security requirements into technical definitions for our cross-platform technology teams.
Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain the EUC Linux platform roadmap, balancing lifecycle commitments, security requirements, technical debt, supportability, and end-user impact.
- Own platform standards for EUC Linux build and image baselines, configuration guardrails, release readiness expectations, and documentation quality.
- Ensuring that the Arm Linux EUC estate is managed and deployed in alignment with our strategic objective of achieving seamless and efficient IT operations.
- Prioritising and balancing between the conflicting Security and User Experience requirements within the Arm EUC Linux solutions.
- Promoting the use of the latest Linux technologies in the Arm ecosystem.
- Lead validation and sign-off activities for beta operating systems, new hardware models, peripheral compatibility, and major platform changes before wider rollout.
- Design and maintain scripts for automating tasks and improving system efficiency.
- Provide premier technical support and fix for End-users Client ensuring prompt resolution of incidents and tasks.
- Collaborate with IT teams to develop and implement strategies for optimising Linux End-user computing environments.
- Candidate should be flexible to work in shifts and on-call support model if required.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 4-8 years of experience required.
- Demonstrated ability of defining, supporting and deploying Linux EUC devices in an Enterprise environment, preferably with Foreman, Puppet.
- Solid understanding of endpoint management, build and image strategy, package governance, and rollout supportability considerations.
- Experience of automation and an Infrastructure as Code approach to maintaining a dynamic Linux EUC estate.
- Good knowledge of shell scripting (Bash/Shell scripting)
- Strong experience in Ubuntu/Linux administration and support
- Good understanding of Linux OS concepts, troubleshooting, and system performance tuning
- Experience with Linux patching, package management, and OS upgrades
- Knowledge of Linux testing and post-patch validation activities
