Arm has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Thermo-mechanical Engineer in our Packaging, Boards and Multiphysics team. You will work closely with IP, SoC Design, Package Design, PCB Design, and thermal teams throughout the company, to guide development of innovative packaging solutions within Arm. You will play a key role in identifying key packaging technologies, communicating with partners and addressing challenges such as warpage and stress in emerging technologies. The role requires hardworking engineering focus in areas such as material selection, stress-strain analysis, and structural enhancement of complex electronic systems.
Responsibilites:
- Identifying innovative technologies that maximize the mechanical performance of Arm systems
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) on packaging and systems to mitigate risk in mechanical performance, including stress and warpage behavior
- Evaluate chip-package interaction (CPI), board-level reliability (BLR), and solder joint reliability using finite element analysis.
- Working closely with internal and external customer partners on material selection, manufacturing processes and mechanical design of systems for markets including IoTt, Automotive, Infrastructure, Client and AI.
- Identifying critical elements for Arm’s packaging roadmap and disseminate these use strategies to key stakeholders
- Driving design strategies for performance and manufacturability in packaging and boards
- Working closely with external partners for driving successful assembly prototypes and mechanical test vehicles
Required Skills and Experience :
- Masters, or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Expert in finite element analysis using Ansys Mechanical
- Expertise in complex systems such as what is used in datacenters.
- A strong understanding of package failure mechanisms and causes
- Minimum 10 years of experience in package and/or systems engineering
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong initiative and open in engaging and learning new concepts and sharing with collaborators.
Salary Range:
